13 June Annual Cultural Extravaganza at BLCU Did you know that amongst Beijing crowds, the Beijing Language and Culture University is known as a small United Nations? This is because although being a relatively small campus compared its counterparts, it has the largest concentration of different nationality students hailing from all corners of the globe. It is the truth, think of any remote country in the world, chance are at in the BLCU campus, and there will be somebody from there! Their annual cultural festival as always was something to marvel at. Students from different countries had already set up their country stands and occupied the open area on the sports ground and basketball courts. Now this is an esteemed school that has one of the best Chinese language courses in China, but on this day, it was not only the Chinese language being spoken out there, walking around the display stalls, you could hear a myriad of different languages. As expected, the mood was vibrant, traditional music was blaring from the speakers, an intoxicating smell of food filled the air and camera flashes were going off in many different directions. This is the buzz that we have all come to expect and love about BLCU’s annual cultural festival! Go Abroad China’s university mandarin program places international students in this university for semester abroad programs. Many have completed their courses successfully and were glad to be part of such a great place, so that the next time they read about BLCU, it becomes like a personal narration because they have physically walked the corridors on the buildings and sat in the classrooms to learn Chinese in China. Finishing off the festivities at this year’s event, there were dancers dressed in colorful attire from African and Latin American countries and closed out the event in great style, leaving people shouting for more performances.
