30 May Beijing City Excursions It’s the weekend and the mood is energetic, our internship in China program participants and international students are all ready to kick off a fun weekend and let go of work and school pressures. Go Abroad China organized an outing to visit the site of the 2008 Olympic Games that were held in Beijing; the “Bird’s Nest” stadium and the “water cube” which was used for water sports. It was a relaxed day as candidates got to see where such a global sporting event took place, to see the site of many awards, new world records, where winners and the not so lucky ones were revealed. We saw in person the structures that we only watched on the television many years back during the historical Olympics games held in Beijing. The Olympic area is surrounded by a luxurious park with a lot of greenery and color in the summer. It was a nice afternoon for our interns in China to meet those who signed up for our Chinese language course. Sitting at an area in the park, it was a relaxed afternoon of getting to know each other, chatting about the best way to learn Chinese. We exchanged funny experiences about coming to China for the first time, struggling to order food in Chinese and many first impressions. It is an interesting thing to see a group of people being joined by one unique experience and yet everyone has their own opinions about it. Go Abroad China continues to support candidates with integrating them and teaching them about other aspects of life in Beijing. For the times that international candidates have their own free time, we are happy to provide some recommendations about hip places to visit or any other assistance they might seek.
