Some contemporary western artists also accustomed Chinese calligraphy as the most abstract form of art in Chinese culture. Chinese calligraphy is an art unique to Asian cultures which has a history of more than 3,000 years.
Courses are provided for participants to learn the fundamentals of traditional painting, and to practice basic brush strokes in a relaxed atmosphere. Students who are taking Chinese laguage courses in China are taught how to use the brush and given an etymological introduction to China’s way of writing, which is an important key to understanding and appreciating Chinese art and culture. In fact, calligraphy was thought to reveal a person’s moral and spiritual self-cultivation as a sort of “heart print.” Classes usually begin with a demonstration, followed by an individual attention for each, allowing students to learn at their own pace.
